Program Philosophy

CVHS golf will be as competitive as possible.  Each tournament will allow the top 4 qualifying players for the week an opportunity to compete against some of the best junior golfers in the state, subject to the discretion of the Head Coach.

Try-outs

Nine hole try-outs this year will take place on August 10th at 3:50PM at Wellshire Golf Course, cost is $8 per player plus $4 for range balls; August 11th at 3:00PM at Wellshire Golf Course, cost is $8 per player plus $4 for range balls; August 12th at Broken Tee Golf Course at 4:00PM, cost is $9.00 per player plus $4.00 for range balls; August 13th At 3:30PM at Red Hawk Ridge  Golf Course, cost is $8 per player plus $4 for range balls;.  All golfers trying-out will be responsible for their try-out fees and will pay those directly to the golf course before play each day (players will need to write their names on their receipts and turn-in the receipts to the Head Coach); players are expected to attend all four days of try-outs.  This year’s CVHS golf team will consist of the top 16 players (the Head Coach will have discretion over the final number of players) after try-outs.  Those 16 players will be determined largely by total strokes over the 4-day period.  ATTN. PLAYERS AND PARENTS: Because of the limited availability of tee times given to CVHS by the golf courses cuts are usually necessary.  Regardless of class standing (Senior, Junior, Sophomore or Freshman) players are not guaranteed a spot on the team – Seniors will likely need to be among the top 5 in try-out scoring to make the team, the Head Coach reserves the right of discretion for special circumstances.  A Parent/Player meeting will be held immediately following try-outs at approximately 6:30PM on August 13th in the Red Hawk Ridge clubhouse, it is imperative that a parent or guardian attend this meeting. 

Fees/Paper Work
The school athletic fee of $100 per player will be due along with all athletic forms in the school office by August 7th.  Additionally, there will be a team fee of $40 per player due on August 13th, which should cover the cost of a new shirt (players keep the shirt) and all practice green fees through the Regional Tournament.  Players cannot participate in try-outs without having completed a sports physical and filed all paper work, there are no exceptions to this rule.

Equipment

All players will be responsible for the following:

*Golf Clubs
*Golf Bag will be checked out to each player and returned at the end of the season.
*Golf Balls
*Knee length shorts or pants – khaki or black in color (cut-offs are not allowed), no denim, collared shirts are required, hats must be worn bill facing forward.
*Rain Gear is optional

Physicals

Every player must complete a physical exam each year before the first day of try-outs.  CVHS will be conducting physical exams at a reduced cost of $25 on August 7th from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.  Call Debbie Gentry at 303.387.9004 to schedule an appointment.
